pracownikami solidarnościowa z ZSP organizes pickets en mejorar las condiciones for OBI de trabajo y la represión against union

12.01.2011. OBI ZSP picket to improve working conditions and union repression against workers
When building materials store in Krakow OBI announced they had formed a union, management responded with the dismissal of an activist and (unsuccessfully) tried goodbye to another. This is not the first time that OBI is to break a union: in 2001, something similar happened in Warsaw and since then, there were no unions in this chain, which has many stores throughout Poland.

The workers wanted to organize for better working conditions. They complain about wages low, hard physical work and accidents. Mobbing is also common and there was a serious case in Lodz last year. More recently, widespread wage discrimination against women is also coming to light.

Another thing the workers are upset is the fact that the chain wants to introduce "electronic dealers", which replaced in their jobs some workers. Krakow workers, who formed a union were pressured by management to threats of being replaced by robots, as it turned out, this week introduced electronic vendors in Warsaw. (See photo)
Now we have some partners in the chain and more individual workers of different cities that create networks among themselves. Krakow workers decided to form a union (no alternative), but now they are also looking for other ways to pressure the company. The ZSP try to support these actions and action, solidarity and information as well.

During the holidays, we disseminate information on the demand for workers not having to work late on Christmas Eve and New Year. (Most people in Poland or have the day off or part-time.)

January 12 held its first court case Ula, dismissed by his activity association. She required readmission to work. Unfortunately, we learned that when she found another job, also was fired - because OBI has contacted his new employer and informed him about their union activities.

picket OBI stores, demanding an end to the repression of trade unions, to wage discrimination, poor working conditions and destruction of electronic vendors. We call on workers to contact, organize and fight!
