Akcja pod OBI OBI

29/01/2011. In Wroclaw, solidarity action was held with the staff of OBI, organized by the local section of the Association of Polish Syndicalists. The action was related to numerous cases of repression and exploitation of employees.

activists and activists went to the mall and handed out leaflets to employees and customers. Staff members present for the work they were very happy, also pledged assistance in their further distribution. Part of ZSP-men placed a banner with "Stop the exploitation of workers" before entering, and also handed out leaflets. Most of the time share proceeded calmly.

Only at one point appeared on a security guard, who announced that "private property" and "please leave the premises of OBI." Of course, no one has applied to these calls - the activists said that the directorate should come here personally to be explained by their actions, and not send as a "bumper", moreover, poorly paid security guard. And as the bosses do not like the presence of activists, let them call the police. But after a while was called to a person "with a suspicious object" and disappeared into the store, without disturbing any more distributing leaflets.

At the end of a picket came to the meeting one of the workers and thanked them for their share.

pracownikami solidarnościowa z ZSP organizes pickets en mejorar las condiciones for OBI de trabajo y la represión against union

12.01.2011. OBI ZSP picket to improve working conditions and union repression against workers
When building materials store in Krakow OBI announced they had formed a union, management responded with the dismissal of an activist and (unsuccessfully) tried goodbye to another. This is not the first time that OBI is to break a union: in 2001, something similar happened in Warsaw and since then, there were no unions in this chain, which has many stores throughout Poland.

The workers wanted to organize for better working conditions. They complain about wages low, hard physical work and accidents. Mobbing is also common and there was a serious case in Lodz last year. More recently, widespread wage discrimination against women is also coming to light.

Another thing the workers are upset is the fact that the chain wants to introduce "electronic dealers", which replaced in their jobs some workers. Krakow workers, who formed a union were pressured by management to threats of being replaced by robots, as it turned out, this week introduced electronic vendors in Warsaw. (See photo)
Now we have some partners in the chain and more individual workers of different cities that create networks among themselves. Krakow workers decided to form a union (no alternative), but now they are also looking for other ways to pressure the company. The ZSP try to support these actions and action, solidarity and information as well.

During the holidays, we disseminate information on the demand for workers not having to work late on Christmas Eve and New Year. (Most people in Poland or have the day off or part-time.)

January 12 held its first court case Ula, dismissed by his activity association. She required readmission to work. Unfortunately, we learned that when she found another job, also was fired - because OBI has contacted his new employer and informed him about their union activities.

Condiciones de trabajo en pésimas

15.02.2011. In recent months there have been some disturbances in the OBI stores in several Polish cities. The workers had set up a union OBI store in Krakow and management took action against. Since then there were several solidarity actions, and the first steps towards a network in several Polish cities. In various media workers have begun to complain publicly about working conditions in the German DIY chain.

Working conditions sometimes
Salaries vary, but they earn about 350 € per month. Women often earn less than their male colleagues.

In some stores there are flexible schedules. Employees may be required to work some days in shifts of four hours and other days up to ten hours. The shifts are often unpredictable and not
planned. Many workers are also required to work on Sundays or other days when they work elsewhere.

Workers complain that there are great problems in calculating overtime.
OBI
Other workers complain that they do not qualify for Social Fund.

There are reports of injuries, particularly in relation to transport heavy objects. Workers complain that the equipment fleet is too old and should not be used. In particular, a ramshackle truck
was the cause of several accidents.

Another problem is the attacks on the dignity of workers, as harassment or thinly veiled threats of job loss. There was, for example, reports of employees of a shop in Lodz on
OBI unbearable harassment in 2009. The common attitude of managers is: "If you do not like work - no one is irreplaceable ¨.

Provided that employees with legitimate claims, they hear OBI want to downsize anyway. What they actually do? Can replace permanent positions for temporary work.
creative in finding savings in personnel, OBI also came out with something special: it is to replace parts of the workforce through "electronic sales staff ¨. These are computerized dolls that are programmed to respond to simple questions from customers. This is a test project in the early years of OBI was installed in a shop in Warsaw. At least in one case, wrist
also had an "industrial injury ¨.

attacks against the union

OBI has a history of attacks on freedom of association in Poland. The first attempt to organize a union was prevented in Warsaw in 2001. Then occurió not anything until 2010 when the workers organized
from a majority union in Krakow. One of the most active members was fired and another was threatening to dismissal. The woman was dismissed
the judiciary work but in the meantime she found a job in competitor's store. There she was fired after they learned of his union activity in OBI.

is also typical that the unionists are harassed by their bosses. Often this takes the form of all types of threats relating to staff reductions. In another town a fellow who complained about working conditions
received a warning and Threatens to dismissal.

workers' demands

siguinete Some of the lawsuits were brought by the union in the shop in Krakow. Others are from other stores that have begun to create networks between them.

They call for an end wage discrimination against women and an end to threats against trade unionists. OBI must end with the replacement of the fixed and temporary employment from ETTs. In addition, workers want an increase of 500 PLN (approx. 125 €) per month, a regimen for overtime, and a supplement of 100 zlotys (approx. 25 €) for work on Sundays. They are demanding the replacement of old equipment (eg forklifts) and improving health and safety at work. They want the day off on Christmas Eve and New Year. Also demand the end of the mysterious customer use and purpose of harassment. OBI want to leave
plans replace a portion of the workforce by electronic dolls. They also call 50 zloty (approx. 12.5 €) for cleaning of uniforms.

And action

Hamburg

On Saturday 12 February, members of the FAU of Kiel and Hamburg held a total share of OBI-Baumarkt Hamburg-Harburg, demanding the implementation of the demands of employees of OBI in Poland, including: the cessation of wage discrimination of women, to stop bullying against trade unionists, to replace temporary workers with permanent employees, an increase of 500 zł.

Picketers developed a banner and distributed leaflets on the various activities conducted by the ZSP workers in Poland and spoke directly with the store. The staff were initially very surprised, but their responses were positive. From conversations with the staff came out that the shop there is no works council or trade union. Employees wanted to hang a flyer on the activities of ZSP billboard company, but executives quickly responded. Store manager called security and said pikietującym, that "they have 30 seconds to go, otherwise call the police. According kierowniczki, OBI case in Poland has nothing to do with OBI in Germany. However, the leaflet claims against the OBI was presented to management. The activists announced that they will further continue its solidarity with the ZSP-MSP.

Wiesbaden

FAU Members of the Rhine-Main region visited the morning OBI office in Wiesbaden and garden store OBI. Store employees handed out information material about the repression of trade unionists in the OBI in Poland, while the rest pikietujących handed out leaflets to customers at the entrance to the store.

Then, the activists moved to another entrance to the shop where distributed leaflets to customers traveling to the store. As customers stopped to read the leaflet, a small cap at the entrance.

action lasted two hours. At that time, 500 leaflets were distributed. Adoption of the customers and employees was very positive. Many customers klęło the "official" (yellow), the trade unions for their cooperation with the SPD and support for social cuts. OBI store in Wiesbaden is one of the few areas where there is a works council and where working conditions are not so bad. In any event, it turned out that the exploitation and mistreatment of people have raised the interest of customers OBI, which bodes well for the future.
